Response channel insertion is the inclusion of references or objects that can be used or selected by a reader to interact or request information. Response types are selected and inserted at key locations within the document, and a response channel may need to be setup (configured) to allow for response tracking.
Response Types - Response types include contact information, reference links and descriptive instructions. Contact information may identify phone number(s), email addresses(s) or other methods of contact. Reference links are selectable text links or images that can redirect readers to other locations such as tutorials, articles or other forms of reference information. Descriptive instructions provide readers with information that motivates and enables and them to perform actions (such as contacting a group or organization). Response Channel Locations - Response channel locations are the positions within a white paper where the response channels with be located, which are typically in areas or sections of content that are expected by the reader, and that relate to response channel. For example, contact information is commonly located at the end of the document. Response Channel Configuration - Response channel configuration is the setup of communication systems that enable people to respond or interact with white papers and track their information (such as their email addresses) and actions (selections and interest areas). Response channel configuration may involve the creation of unique emails (email forwarding) and phone numbers (unique extensions). Links may be setup through a link tracking service. This figure shows how response channels may be added to a white paper. This example shows that a reference link is added to the white paper document, and is tracked through a link server. When the reader clicks on the link, they are connected to a link server, which redirects the link to the actual directory server. A contact phone number is also included which uses a telephone extension number to track incoming calls. When the incoming call is received at that specific extension, the incoming call information is recorded (logged) and the call is redirected to a sales extension. |
