Information
requests are messages or other
events that indicate a person or company is requesting information or
media related to a product, service or other identifiable item. Examples
of information requests include catalog or product data sheet requests.
Information requests may be tracked to determine how effective a white
paper marketing project is performing. Information requests may be
produced using form submissions, phone contacts or by email messages.
Form Submission - Form submission is the process of gathering all the data that is entered into a form and sending the information to another location, such as an email address, or adding it to the bottom of a database table. The use of form submission simplifies and standardizes the data gathering process. Information that is entered into the form fields can be checked and validated prior to form submission. When a form is completed, the data in the form can be sent to one or more recipients (such as a sales representative). The form submission data can include the source of the data (which white paper generated the information request), along with other information (such as the name, phone number, email address and question of the requesting person). Phone Contacts - Phone contacts are calls that are received from people with inquiries or additional information requests. Contact information that is included in a white paper can provide a unique phone number or extension to track inbound calls. Email Requests - Email requests are messages that ask for additional information. When soliciting for email requests, a unique alias email address can be used to track responses to the specific response points that are inserted. This can be as simple as creating a variation of a person’s name to be used in the email which is forwarded to the recipient. For example, the email address of brsmith@ABC.com could be created and forwarded to the actual owner bsmith@ABC.com. |
