White
paper distribution channel management
is the tracking and coordination of document submission and publication.
It involves identifying potential distribution channels (where to
distribute the white paper), tracking the submission status (submitted,
accepted, published), and monitoring the publication results (determines
distribution channels worth maintaining).
Distribution Channels - White papers may be distributed through multiple distribution channels including self-published web sites, directory channels and co-marketing partner sites. Each channel should be uniquely identified along with its contact information and the terms of distribution, which may include any fees that are charged for the listing. Submission Status - Submission status is the state of review and acceptance to which a contributed media item (such as a white paper) has progressed. Some of the submission states classify whether a white paper has been submitted to a content syndicator (such as a white paper directory), its review and approval status, and if the white paper has been published (available for registration and download). Publication Results - Publication results are achievements that result from the publishing of a white paper through the distribution channel. These results can range from the number of white paper links inserted within web pages to the levels of registration and usage activity (page views and downloads). These results may be compared to the activities and sales with which the white paper assisted in completing to determine if the distribution channel is valuable to maintain. |
